From February 5th to 9th, Italy stops to watch Sanremo Festival, one of the main shows of Italy and worldwide.

It is exciting to see it live, enveloped in the festive climate that livens up the entire city. Among the audience of Ariston theatre, walking around the shopping streets, on the boardwalk, at the Casino, parks or other areas that welcome the stars, singers, guests and tourists: the magical festive climate is everywhere.

On the stage, with Claudio Baglioni, Virginia Raffaele and Claudio Bisio as hosts, there will be 24 top Italian singers, like Il Volo, Nek, Patty Prato and many others. Special guests will be the worldwide stars Andrea Bocelli, Giorgia and Elisa. International surprise stars will be announced later on.

The final show on the 9th of February will see the election of the winner, who will have the right to represent Italy at the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest in Israel.

The Festival will be on air and web streaming on Rai 1, Rai HD, Eurovision and Radio 1, Radio 2.

New direct flight from NYC to Nice

Reaching the Italian Riviera from the US is now even more easier.

The Boutique airline “La Compagnie”, 4 years after launching exclusively business-class flights between New York and Paris, has announced the launch of a new seasonal route between New York and Nice with the first direct flight scheduled for Sunday, May 5, 2019.

The new route will operate five times weekly, Wednesday through Sunday, between the months of May and October. Flights out of Newark International Airport (EWR) will depart at 11:30PM, arriving to Nice Côte d’Azur International Airport (NCE) at 1:50PM the following afternoon. Flights departing Nice will be offered at 6:15PM with a same-day arrival in New York at 10:00PM.

This new seasonal service is added to the year-round nonstop service between Nice Côte d’Azur Airport and New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport thanks to the joint venture partners Delta Air lines and Air France.

2018 Blue Flag beaches: Liguria is (again) the most pristine

In 2018 Italy boasts 368 Blue Flags Beaches and region Liguria has again the highest number of Blue Flag beaches.

Italy has 368 top beaches, twelve more than last year, in 175 municipalities. The figures emerge from the 2018 Blue Flag table, which certifies the services and environmental friendliness of coastal and lakeside resorts, as well as the cleanliness of the water.

Blue Flags are international distinctions, created in 1987, with patronage and support from UNEP, the United Nations Environment Programme, and the World Tourism Organisation, which aims to promote a sustainable development at beaches and marinas through strict criteria such as water quality, environmental management, safety and services provided close to or within the beach area. To the Blue Flag Programme participate beaches and marinas in 41 countries of all the world.

Liguria again tops the regional table with 27 blue flags.

It is followed by Tuscany with 19, Campania with 18, the central Marche region with 16, Apulia is in 5th position with 14, Sardinia gains 2 flags and reach 13, Abruzzo and Calabria with 9 flags, Veneto and Lazio with 8, Emilia Romagna reach 7 flags, Sicily has 6 flags, Basilicata 4, Friuli Venezia Giulia 2 and Molise with 1 1. But Blue Flags are also for the lakes and Trentino Alto Adige leads with 5 flags, followed by Piedmont with 2 and then Lombardy with 1 flag.

Cala del Forte, the new state-of-the-art marina located only 15 to 20 minutes from the Principality of Monaco in Ventimiglia, West Liguria, Italy.
