2018 Blue Flag beaches: Liguria is (again) the most pristine

In 2018 Italy boasts 368 Blue Flags Beaches and region Liguria has again the highest number of Blue Flag beaches.

Italy has 368 top beaches, twelve more than last year, in 175 municipalities. The figures emerge from the 2018 Blue Flag table, which certifies the services and environmental friendliness of coastal and lakeside resorts, as well as the cleanliness of the water.

Blue Flags are international distinctions, created in 1987, with patronage and support from UNEP, the United Nations Environment Programme, and the World Tourism Organisation, which aims to promote a sustainable development at beaches and marinas through strict criteria such as water quality, environmental management, safety and services provided close to or within the beach area. To the Blue Flag Programme participate beaches and marinas in 41 countries of all the world.

Liguria again tops the regional table with 27 blue flags.

It is followed by Tuscany with 19, Campania with 18, the central Marche region with 16, Apulia is in 5th position with 14, Sardinia gains 2 flags and reach 13, Abruzzo and Calabria with 9 flags, Veneto and Lazio with 8, Emilia Romagna reach 7 flags, Sicily has 6 flags, Basilicata 4, Friuli Venezia Giulia 2 and Molise with 1 1. But Blue Flags are also for the lakes and Trentino Alto Adige leads with 5 flags, followed by Piedmont with 2 and then Lombardy with 1 flag.

In West Liguria these are the 2018 Blue Flags: Bordighera, Arma di Taggia, Santo Stefano al Mare, San Lorenzo al Mare, Ceriale, Borghetto Santo Spirito, Loano, Pietra Ligure, Finale Ligure, Noli, Spotorno, Bergeggi, Savona, Albissola Marina, Albisola Superiore, Celle Ligure and Varazze.

Cala del Forte, the new state-of-the-art marina located only 15 to 20 minutes from the Principality of Monaco in Ventimiglia, West Liguria, Italy.

Protected naturally from the elements with a highly controlled access from the land, it is a perfect sister marina to the neighbouring Port Hercule and Port of Fontvieille.

This new Port in Ventimiglia, Italy, which is approximately 7.9 nautical miles from the Principality of Monaco by boat, is set to offer luxury yacht owners the opportunity to rent one of the planned 171 berths on a 40-year basis.

The Cala del Forte will accommodate yachts ranging from 6.5 to 60 metres and it is on schedule for full completion in 2019. The marina will have a variety of shops, cafés, parking, shipyard, promenade and gardens and either an elevator or funicular to take visitors to the historical Ventimiglia Old Town.

The marina has been bought by the SMIP (Société Monégasque Internationale Portuaire), an organisation owned by the Monaco Government, and will be fully integrated into the management of the Port of Monaco, which also operates Port Hercule and the Port of Fontvieille.

Aside from being a stone’s throw away from the Principality, the port is within walking distance of one of the most famous food markets on the Italian coastline and provides one of the most sheltered harbours. The picturesque Old Town of Ventimiglia is also the perfect alternative for a day trip away from the hustle and bustle of Monaco.

L’automne en Liguria

L’AUTOMNE EN LIGURIA: La Rivière des Fleurs est très charmante à toutes les saisons

Il y a encore quelques “baigneurs” courageux qui choisissent de prendre un bain à la mer pendant ces dernières semaines alors que nous attendons l’arrivée de l’automne.
Ces semaines sont très importantes parce qu’elles marquent les reprises scolaires, du travail ou tout simplement pour les autres, aussi le désir de changer de residence et d’aller habiter dans une ville plus petite, plus tranquille et extrêmement élégante comme Bordighera.

Pendant la saison d’automne, l’ordre du jour de la Rivière des Fleurs est très mouvementée parce qu’il y a beaucoup d’engagements, par exemple: depuis le jeudi 13 Octobre 2016, la mairie de Sanremo organise un événement qu’il s’appelle “International Music Expo” où nous pouvons participer à la deuxième saison de “Master Class”, cette fois-ci dediée au saxophone. Pour l’occasion sera présent Claude Delangle, un des plus importants solistes au monde, rechercheur et enseignant au Conservatoire national Supérieur de la musique à Paris.

En faisant quelques kilometres, nous retournons à Bordighera, connue comme la “ville des Palmiers” dans laquelle il est impossible de ne pas faire attention à chaque détail.
Pour cette raison, nous devons être très satisfaits pour les travaux de rénovation de la balustrade entre Saint’Ampelio et le cèlebre restaurant La Reserve.
Elle a été construite en fer galvanisé et le travail realisé évoque le dessin idealisé par Charles Garnier en 1800.
